Ads – Sometimes it’s Just Too Much

I’m trying to read an article and smack dab in the middle lays a fat ad. It just annoys me. The ad is half the screen size. To read the rest of the piece requires scrolling past it. I know people must pay for bandwidth, development and opportunity costs, but please there must be a better way. At least pick ads that don’t mimic strobe lights.

I’ve seen a few threads about ads in RSS feeds. How annoying. When this comes about I will just block all my images/flash in my RSS reader. Problem solved.

Can you imagine reading a book and every couple pages coming across an ad? Of course I’m sure someone will point out that most books are not free.

My solution to dealing with ad infested pages is to look for a “print me” button. This usually gets rid of most the ads. It leaves a nicely formatted document with black text on a white background.
