Your Best is Not Good Enough

I take pride in my work. Most people I know also put a large amount of pride in their work. And they should.

Animators at Disney would bring their final draft to Walt Disney for his approval. He would look over it in admiration. He would look the animator in the eye and say “plus it.”

How could someone’s best work be bested? Easy by making it better. How many ideas, innovations and inventions have been improvements on an existing idea? Almost everything I can think of is an improvement of something.

Most whom have been using the internet for a number of years know of Mapquest. Their maps were at one time the most used location/direction finder on the internet. The owned the market. There was one small problem, they stopped plusing their product.

Just over a year ago Google came out with “Google Maps.” It blew Mapquest… well off the map. How did they do it? By improving upon an existing idea. Anything can be improved, including your ideas.
