Gnutella 1, RIAA 0

Two companies using the Gnutella network for p2p file sharing released versions of their software to thwart the RIAA’s attempt to find users sharing files. Other companies such as Bearshare already have features that allows authentication between users, but this is not implemented network wide and will only work with other users with the same p2p software installed.

The outcome is yet to be seen, but the RIAA is activly going after the small fry in p2p networks, the end users. I feel sorry for the poor souls who they capture. But this will do nothing but piss people off and strength the resolve of the users and the programs that allow p2p.

The solution is not to squash p2p, but to embrace it and the technology that supports it. Then use it to a financial advantage, of course I have no clue how to do this. If I did I would be doing it : D
